UPDATED: Cisco To Update CCIE Lab Exams



August 16, 2005 - Cisco announced that the company will update its Internet experts Cisco certification (ccie) laboratory examinations, January 1, 2006 to reflect " , network, " it said on its website. No new technology will be added to the examination.

Ccie security laboratory examinations will no longer test ISDN technology and ATM will no longer be used as a Layer 2 transport protocol WAN connectivity.

Ccie voice laboratory examinations, the ATM will no longer be used as a Layer 2 transport protocol for WAN Link.

The ccie service providers laboratory examinations, but will continue to test ATM and IS - staff, because they are widely used in the service providers network.

Cisco also announced Tuesday all ccie Routing Switching (R S) LAB locations will start using Cisco 3825 integrated services routers, which will eventually phase out the existing Series 2600 and 3600 models, from January 1, 2006. New routers support Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet interface .

The ccie R S laboratory will also upgrade the IOS to 12.3 for the main line Cisco, 2600 and 3600 series routers, the main line of 12.4 for Cisco 3700 and 3800 series routers 12.2 and the Cisco Catalyst 3550 switches.
