Microsoft Beta Tests Continuous Data Protection Update



Microsoft has begun beta testing its upcoming System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM), Version 2, the company said Wednesday.

Announced in the storage decision-making meeting, held in New York.

DPM section 2, the DPM will be expanded in 2006 to protect and restore Microsoft Exchange Server, SQL Server and SharePoint Portal Server, and administrators familiar with the terminology used.

"DPM section 2, IT administrators can help protect and restore all applications or application objects used by the application of terms and concepts, such as mail, or Microsoft Exchange Server for Windows file sharing file servers, "said a statement on Microsofts Web site.

In addition, the DPM 2, and will be uniform application of the recovery process and application backup process integrated into a single continuous data protection solutions, the statement continued. Release 2 will also enable IT administrators to quickly restore applications and documents from the seamless integration of disk and tape media. Microsoft plans to transport second test in the early spring of 2007, and the final Code later in the year.
